Manager, Advertising (Paid Social)

Job Description

We're looking for a manager with expertise in paid social advertising channels - particularly Meta. As a manager, you will manage a team of campaign specialists and lead a top to bottom effort to manage existing channels, while constantly thinking of ways to expand and optimize new ones. This role requires you to have both a strategic viewpoint on how our advertising can continue to scale and evolve efficiently at positive ROAS using different attribution models, while also having excellent attention to detail on the tactical efforts such as flawless campaign launches, measurement and operational tasks.

At Zapier, you will support the growth of your direct reports, ensure timely campaign launches, contribute to ad creative, experiment design and analysis. You will partner with the Decision Science team to provide macro and micro level reporting visible to all stakeholders in our company. You will also work directly finance to determine the right media spend across our various channels. You will be reporting to our Director of Advertising.

About You:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience and a proven track record in multiple digital advertising channels - with an emphasis on paid social.
  • 2+ years relevant experience managing direct reports.
  • Competency in attribution models, and top to bottom analysis of campaigns while generating actionable items and insights.
  • Metrics-driven, this position requires an experienced eye toward goal-setting and is someone that can analyze data and make key business decisions in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
  • Track record of modeling and forecasting KPIs such as spend, conversions and ROAS. Ability to determine optimal spend levels across ad channels and manage an ad portfolio.
  • Understanding of creative levers that influence awareness and conversions across static, motion and video.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to present work regularly to executives and other cross functional stakeholders.
  • Thrive under rapid creative, copy and targeting iterations to maximize ad performance. You can distinguish between inputs and outputs, and vanity KPIs vs. business metrics.
  • Positive, company-first attitude, strong collaborator with proven ability to partner/lead cross-functional efforts.
  • You are adaptable with innovation and innovative thinking while continuously learning and driving results.

Things You’ll Do:

  • Own the strategy, planning, and execution of digital advertising channels. This would include social, video and experimental channels.
  • Manage and develop a team of marketing specialists to grow in-house advertising capabilities and career growth. Oversee optimization and devise a structured test & learn strategy.
  • Use data marketplace tools (eg Liveramp, Clearbit, etc.) to identified new audience to go after.
  • Analyze and communicate marketing performance to local and global stakeholders, learning and sharing best practices.
  • Understand the competitive media landscape, and identify opportunities to reinforce Zapier's competitive category leadership.
  • Partner with the Decision Science team to advance measurement and understanding of ROI and incrementality.
  • Own the prioritization queue and execution of tests on new channels to advertise on.
  • Can work collaboratively with multiple teams (Marketing, Content, Product, and Sales) to ensure strategic thinking and effective campaign performance

Nice to Haves:

  • Advanced knowledge of statistics (significance, p-value, sample size etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel and Google Docs) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries (e.g. joins, unions, subqueries, case statements, window functions, etc.), and working with large data sets.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least two or more major ad platform’s business managers (Meta, Google, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube).
  • Have B2B marketing experience.
  • Pioneer testing in new digital and traditional media such as podcasting, direct mail, or TV advertising.
