Junior Fullstack Engineer

Job Description

This role is part of our ScraperAPI  team, one of our growing brands at saas.group.

ScraperAPI is an enterprise scale web scraping tool that handles proxies, browsers, and CAPTCHAs, so you can get the HTML from any web page with a simple API call. ScraperAPI is part of Saas.group LLC which was founded in 2017 with a simple goal in mind: to help small companies reach their full potential. We looked at what made private equity firms and other common routes so maddening, and worked backward, simplifying every step.

Profile Overview

We’re looking for new members to join our small and focused engineering team to build the next generation of web scraping tools together. We’re building a world where data collection is a breeze and where publicly available data is at anyone’s doorstep - should you be a marketplace looking for competitor information or an SEO agency collecting search engine data for your customers. The role offers challenges that will keep your brain busy, a chance to work on a large scale product that customers can rely on, a modern tech stack and a great team where people learn from each other.

Our Tech Stack: NodeJS, TypeScript, Python, Redis, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis

By the end of your first 6 months with us:

  • we would expect you to have developed a reasonable level of understanding of our tech stack, codebase and our CI and CD practices;
  • we would expect you to have successfully completed multiple minor bug fixes or feature enhancements; and
  • We would expect you to have successfully delivered at least one major feature enhancement.

Your responsibilities

  • In your new role you will be responsible for helping to build, maintain and improve our ability to fetch and transform data for our customers, which is vital to our current and future service offerings.
  • You will also be responsible for helping to maintain and further develop a large transactional SaaS API and related components that handle tens of thousands of requests every second.
  • As your role progresses and develops, you will also be responsible for helping to build out our other new service offerings.

What You bring to the table

  • Foundational knowledge of SAAS applications: Exposure to web applications and a basic understanding of backend operations. Familiarity with handling moderate API traffic and interest in learning how to scale systems to handle larger volumes.
  • Basic understanding of HTTP and related protocols: Familiar with HTTP, headers, and basic concepts of proxies and cookies. Willingness to deepen knowledge in this area and learn more advanced protocols.
  • Interest in working with data: Enthusiasm for learning how to fetch, parse, and structure data to provide value to customers. Willingness to learn how to automate these processes to ensure scalability.
  • Familiarity with Node.js and TypeScript: Hands-on experience with Node.js and a basic understanding of TypeScript. Willingness to grow in this stack. You don't need to be a specialist, but some prior exposure will help you get up to speed quickly.
  • Product-oriented mindset: A focus on learning to build features that directly benefit customers and the ability to work collaboratively with product teams to deliver useful, impactful solutions.
  • Openness to remote work: Experience working remotely in any capacity or readiness to work in a remote-first environment.

What’s in it for You

  • Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
  • Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of independence to solve problems in your own way — with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
  • Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.  We work in a loose agile process because we don't need to remind ourselves what we need to do.
  • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
  • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.
  • Unlimited paid time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.

ScraperAPI is part of saas.group and we have a shared goal of succeeding together.
