• You are proactive and independent

What do we need from you?

• Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Programming with Python or Go.
• Tool Stack: Terraform, AWS, Docker, Vault, ProxySQL, and Gitlab.
• Skills: Automation (General), Infrastructure as Code, Python Scripting, Bash shell scripting and Unix system admin.
• 5 Years working in an SRE role, including a minimum of two years verifiable experience working with terraform on AWS in a production environment.
• Intermediate-level experience with MySQL or other relational database systems.
• Logical and analytical thinking for problem-solving.
• Proven ability to systematically identify patterns and underlying issues in complex situations.
• Strong skills in identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, and structures, enhancing performance through analysis and assessment of existing process flows, methods, and standards.

As a member of the DevOps team you will be part of a team that is largely responsible for keeping Hostaway secure, reliable and iterating fast. The DevOps team works with an agile and collaborative approach where we incrementally improve things. As a senior member of the team you will be expected to proactively identify gaps, come up with better solutions and be involved in all stages of planning, provisioning, deployment and monitoring of our infrastructure stack and more. Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in design decisions concerning our infrastructure, infrastructure security, and leveraging modern infrastructure practices and DevOps methodologies where applicable. (Containerization, Configuration Management, CI/CD, IaC, Monitoring)
• Assist the development teams with containerization efforts, maintain reliable Kubernetes clusters that are easy for the teams to use.
• Be an ambassador for reliability across the company, help with design decisions that improve observability and work with teams to create and maintain actionable alerts and runbooks.
• Lead collaborative efforts with the development team to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring streamlined and high-performance software delivery.
• Drive toil down and have an automation-first mindset when approaching problems.
• Resolve critical issues across various platforms and environments, addressing challenges such as unavailability, outages, inconsistencies, misconfigurations, data delays. Be an active participant in incident management and in improving it.

Job requirements

• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and DevOps tools and methodologies.
• AWS professional expertise is a hard requirement, knowing best practices and having used it at scale. The more AWS you know the better. GCP knowledge is a plus but not required.
• Extensive experience in Terraform / OpenTofu for infrastructure as code. You should have experience with modules, and managing different environments in a production setup. Terragrunt knowledge a plus but not required.
• Understanding of classic sysadmin topics: Linux administration, knowledge of networking stack, Bash scripting, security best practices.
• Professional experience with Kubernetes is required. Knowledge of Helm, ArgoCD a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of monitoring/logging tools and working knowledge of the SRE approach to reliability (golden signals, tackling toil, customer focus).
• The ideal candidate will have familiarity with at least one scripting language and be able to understand and debug production code to help identify issues.
• Experience participating in on-call rotations and responding to production incidents within a blameless culture that focuses on process and technology improvements.
• Willingness to embrace and learn new technologies as the DevOps landscape evolves.

About the Role

The GitLab Runway team is working on our next-generation platform to rapidly deploy backend services that automatically take advantage of GitLab infrastructure, security, observability, and data access. It’s a platform engineering project in the truest sense. We’re enabling self-service development across the entire GitLab engineering ecosystem to quickly build and deploy services to complement the GitLab product offerings.

We're seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team and help us build, maintain, and optimize our infrastructure. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and performant.

• Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure on both GCP and AWS

We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and help optimize and enhance our operations system. • Manage Kubernetes and optimize the capability and stability of containerized applications.
• Maintain the AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipeline to support DevOps processes using GitlabCI.

What We Do

We manage compute infrastructure and the applications that depend on it. Most of these applications, like blockchains, are not designed or implemented by us. Thus, we do a lot of reading—documentation, code, Slack channels, and Discord servers—to develop an informed understanding of each app's architecture, best operating practices, and debugging techniques when things go wrong. Documenting what we learn, including what went wrong and how to prevent future issues, is also a big part of our work.
