Corepunk Team

About the job

Corepunk is scaling its live MMO on Google Cloud. You’ll be the hands-on engineer who keeps everything running smoothly - from Terraform-driven infrastructure to the edge layer that fronts millions of player connections.

Developing MMO games is very challenging. In our view it is as much rewarding. We want to find someone who shares our passion for challenge and excellence to enjoy this path together.

Responsibilities

  • Own our Terraform codebase: VPCs, Compute Engine instance templates & managed instance groups, Cloud SQL / Redis, external load balancers, Cloud Armor, logging/monitoring pipelines and IAM.
  • Operate CI/CD with Jenkins & Git-Ops workflows to build, test and deploy our containerised C# micro-services onto Compute Engine VMs.
  • Design, tune and monitor network & security components - TCP/HTTPS load balancers, Cloud Armor rules, Cloud DNS, VPC peering, firewall policy, secret management.
  • Build rich observability: export logs/metrics to BigQuery & Prometheus/Grafana, create SLO dashboards and on-call alerts.
  • Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and post-mortems; drive continuous improvement on reliability, performance and cost.
  • Partner with gameplay, backend and security teams to ship new features, optimise latency and harden our multi-region architecture.

Requirements

  • 3+ years as a DevOps/SRE on Google Cloud Platform running production services at scale.
  • Terraform and Jenkins (or similar) for fully automated provisioning and delivery.
  • Deploying and troubleshooting containerised C#/.NET services on Compute Engine (or other VM-based) environments.
  • Solid networking & security fundamentals: VPC design, Anycast/BGP basics, TLS offload, Cloud Armor/WAF, DNS, firewall rules.
  • Production observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring/Logging, incident management toolchains.
  • Strong Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python or Go).

Nice to have

  • Operated real-time game back-ends or other low-latency, high-concurrency systems.
  • Experience with gRPC, Envoy, Redis, multi-region PostgreSQL and player-centric rate-limiting strategies.
  • Familiarity with service mesh, zero-trust networking or Chaos Engineering.

What success looks like in 6 months

  • Entire stack is codified in Terraform, promoted through Jenkins pipelines with zero manual steps.
  • Multi-region edge layer (load balancers + Cloud Armor) delivers < 1 % LB-level error rate during peak events.
  • Comprehensive dashboards & alerts mean incidents are detected within seconds and mitigated within SLA.

Benefits

  • You’ll play a key role in delivering a highly anticipated new IP MMO RPG for millions of players.
  • Flexible schedule
  • Remote work
  • 28 days of annual leave (including 12 paid public holidays, 16 bonus days, and 2 additional days for corporate events)
