Senior Data Analyst

Job Description

About Pex

Pex is a digital rights technology company, enabling the fair and transparent use of copyrighted content at the speed and scale of the Internet. We serve everyone who uses the Internet to view, share or create content – from the largest platforms and rightsholders, to independent creators. Our advanced licensing infrastructure allows platforms to manage and license content before it’s published, empowering creators to upload freely while respecting copyright. In return, rightsholders are able to monitor and capitalize on the content they own.

Unlike other copyright technology companies, our real-time marketplace brings people and platforms together to support the full content ecosystem and all of its constituents. We are building towards a world in which creators can freely mix and remix content, a world in which rights are respected and rightsholders are correctly identified and properly compensated, and a world in which platforms are able to innovate while bringing everyone together without fear of litigation.

As Senior Data Analyst, you will transform existing data at Pex into actionable insights to drive critical business decisions, collaborate on building our data infrastructure, and deliver valuable insights to stakeholders’ analytics needs (product, sales, marketing, and more).

The Team

Pex is a fully remote team so we believe in the power of communication. We’re not just about talking; we’re about overcommunicating to ensure everyone is in sync, we use Slack for instant comms and Notion to document RFCs and general knowledge sharing. We are agile: two-week sprints, tackling challenges and pushing boundaries together.

The Data Engineering Team is a dynamic, cross-cultural group of talented engineers who manage company-wide analytical and reporting requests, collaborating with nearly every team. They keep data pipelines running smoothly and handle data ingestion from third parties with precision and care.

The Role

You will be working closely with the Pex engineering team to design and deploy the analytics data infrastructure in support of analytics needs. Crucial part of your role will be shaping the strategy and vision for data analytics at Pex by leading cross-functional analytics initiatives:

  • Product: analyzing insights relevant to our customers, guiding product evolution through deep analysis
  • Marketing: uncovering industry & market data trends and fueling campaign success with data-driven research
  • Business development: creating compelling sales collateral with data models and visual storytelling.
  • Finance: building analytical tools to define KPIs and to optimize operations

About You

We have a lot of people who did not follow the traditional career path. We value people who are curious and collaborative and bring their unique perspectives to work each day. While we’re excited to learn from your experiences and what you can bring to the team, there are a few key things we think you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • Strong SQL skills, ready to dive in and run complex queries independently
  • Expertise at engaging diverse stakeholders to understand business needs, translating them into actionable technical requirements, assessing feasibility, and driving optimal solutions
  • Self-starter who transforms ambiguity into a clear, prioritized list of data-driven questions and actionable insights
  • Passionate about communicating data effectively and have experience with data visualization
  • Proficiency with modern data stack, including Snowflake and dbt
  • Experience with using BI tools for high-impact reporting and dashboards
  • Exceptional communicator who thrives in fully remote, distributed teams
  • Bonus: experience with music industry data and data engineering

  • CI/CD pipeline backed by Jenkins

Perks and Benefits

  • Salary: $103,000 – $110,000 USD per annum
  • Equity, with perks like a 10-year exercise window

  • Generous paid parental leave
  • A fully remote working environment and supportive culture that cares about both excellent work and work-life balance
