We are looking for a Analytics Engineer, Finance to build and maintain robust data systems at our globally distributed company.
As a Analytics Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing reliable data pipelines, analysis, and visualizations that drive financial reporting and business insights. You will collaborate closely with analytics engineers, software developers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to transform complex financial data into accessible, actionable information.
You will build and maintain ETL processes for financial data, build and maintain internal reporting tools, design metrics to illuminate business performance, and create high-quality analyses and dashboards to communicate insights broadly. Working with large datasets, you'll help ensure data quality and integrity, build and maintain reporting processes and self-service tools, and serve as a fulcrum point to help the organization leverage its financial data for high-quality decision-making.
This role requires strong SQL proficiency, programming skills, experience with data visualization tools, and a deep understanding of data warehousing concepts. Experience with finance/accounting teams and SaaS business models is valuable. Most importantly, you should be self-directed, have a bias for action, communicate effectively through written channels, and embrace continuous learning in our distributed work environment.
Salary range: $90,000-$150,000 USD. Please note that salary ranges are global, regardless of location, and we pay in local currency.

The current team is present around the globe leveraging asynchronous work practices that ensure follow-the-sun coverage for both collaboration and incident response when necessary. At the moment, the team counts on 11 engineers spanning from Associate to Staff levels distributed across APAC, EMEA and AMER. The team collaborates regularly with teams like Gitaly, Data Stores, Duo/AI Teams, Code Review and Remote Development Team, fostering innovation and alignment across departments.
The team is invested in both advancing the Source Code Management product category in a collaborative environment with product, design and frontend counterparts as well as improving reliability of our platform by addressing customer bugs, infrastructure development and security issues. They play a vital role in integrating and sometimes expanding internal systems like Gitaly, GitLab Shell and Workhorse to deliver on customer requirements and support our offering which among others includes Git Large File Storage (LFS). Sr. Platform Engineer, Golang:
As a Sr. Platform Engineer, you will help future proof our existing k8s based platform.
You will collect and analyze requirements from developer, data management and system reliability teams to enhance our kubernetes-based platform to meet the needs of the company.
You will implement functionality missing in open source tools we use as k8s platform components and set up CICD pipelines to run regression and release new versions of the images.
You will work with upstream project maintainers to integrate our customizations upstream if there is community interest.
You will integrate bug fixes from upstream into our forked projects for customizations we are unable to integrate into upstream projects.
You will test new versions of the platform components and prepare zero downtime upgrades for production clusters.
You will identify areas needing improvement, look for potential replacements for current platform components and stage them to confirm we will benefit from migration to the new component.

The Director of Engineering, MediaWiki is accountable for the MediaWiki Engineering Group in the Wikimedia Foundation and is an active participant in the strategic decision making for the Product and Technology department and across the Wikimedia movement. The teams in this group build, maintain, and improve upon MediaWiki, the software platform that powers Wikipedia and its sister projects, used by hundreds of millions of people each month. MediaWiki has been built to enable the creation, moderation, storage, discovery and consumption of open content in different languages and at scale. As free and open source software, MediaWiki is also used by many other projects and sites.
The MediaWiki Engineering group includes the MediaWiki Interfaces, MediaWiki Platform, and Content Transform team. The monthly MediaWiki Insights have more information on the kind of challenges the team undertakes.
This role involves managing an engineering organization of about 25 including some very experienced Principal engineers and managers. The role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and shares responsibility with the Director of Product for MediaWiki to iterate and execute on a holistic strategy for MediaWiki in collaboration with other engineering teams, product management, and the volunteer technical contributor community. About the Engineering Team
We are nearly 100 full time engineers at the company, working from Berlin, Chamonix, Hamburg, Lisbon, Marseille, Vilnius, and Stockholm, spanning diverse disciplines such as Hardware Engineering, Firmware Development, Electrical Design, Algorithm Development, Machine Learning Development, Optronics Research, Frontend Development and more. We don't expect people to join us with a specific tech knowledge, but we do expect you to work with our tools. We use a mix of React, Typescript, C++, and Python. Our APIs are written in C# with ASP.NET Core, uses Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Active Directory for authentication.
Our headquarters and our hardware development team are in Stockholm, Sweden.
We are a Remote First company; however, it is of course much easier to work remotely as a software engineer than a hardware or firmware engineer (since they require access to hardware or devices occasionally). Software engineers based in Stockholm work maybe one day a week or one day every two weeks from the office.
We meet a couple of times per year to get to know each other and have fun.
The engineering team is divided into smaller cross functional project teams that each focus on a specific goal or target, where some groups are long-lived, and some are short-lived, depending on how big the goal or deliverable is. We strive to create groups which are cross-functional and able to complete their goals without dependence on other teams, even though this is of course not always possible.
Groups track goals on a yearly and quarterly basis with goal follow-up across the entire engineering organization on a bi-weekly basis. Most groups do internal planning on a bi-weekly basis, but in the end it's up to the group to decide how they want to work.
We have, however, mandated that all groups must present their progress or failures or hacks at our bi-weekly engineering demo, a fun meeting/presentation where we talk about everything from short-circuiting power-modules, how hard it is to calibrate cameras or align polygons in space, to neat new command line tools for operations, a new auth mechanism in the backend, a cool new way to visualize health data or a new feature which helps our doctors be more productive.

How do we interact working remotely? 💻
Remote working works really well here in Matomo. We use Slack as our main communication channel. We also have a 15 minute team daily huddle, a team meeting once a week, and a once a month company wide “All-Hands” meeting. Also, a regular one on one catch up with the Team Leader at least once a week. And we document all internal processes and knowledge articles using Confluence.
